About Us
Hiking Philosophy
Oak Point is a great place for seniors to live, work and play. Our hikes and walks are designed for seniors who like to get mild exercise and wild enjoyment through socializing and experiencing nature. Please sign up and join us.
The Paths We Travel
We like to keep the trails easy to trek (we're seniors, remember?). The event announcement emails always provide a "degree of difficulty" for the next hiking/walking adventure. The chosen trails provide easy "walks" and some "hikes" throughout the season.
Hikes? Think roots and rocks, maybe some mild hills and a lot of "single wide" trails around various kinds of topography.
Walks? Think paved paths, mild inclines, gardens and flowers. A mix of experiences that are designed for all of us seniors. Our destinations are almost always less than an hour's drive from Oak Point and we always organize carpooling (even more socializing!). All hikes and walks are "pre-hiked" by club leaders to ensure that the selected location is appropriate for our members..
Join Us On The Trail
The three primary objectives for the club are safety, FUN and mild exercise. The group size usually ranges from 10 to 15 (although we once had 25 hikers join in the fun). And many of the hikers/walkers really enjoy grabbing some lunch after the event at an eatery near the event (completely optional). Jokes and stories along the trail are always in abundance as well as occasional narration by a club Naturalist.
So give us a try, We think you'll be hooked AND gain a bunch of new Neighbor Friends!
